Cameron McEvoy is an Australian swimmer who came in 5th place in the 200-meter freestyle event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Before he started swimming, he played Australian football and was in the junior national team for two years. He was a very fast runner but he could not swim. So, when a swimming coach saw his potential as an athlete, he became a swimmer.
He did not have a good start in swimming. It was difficult for him to concentrate on his practice. His school and friends were distracting him and he could not find time to practice. But what he did despite all these distractions is he made time to practice his swimming.
He did his best to practice under the water and practice for longer than his coach asked him to do. He emphasized hard work in his long-term plan and it paid off.
When he was 16 years old, he won a bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle event, and that was his very first international medal. Today, he is the winner of many championships and medals in swimming.
