“Call Me Maybe” Gets a Makeover for 2016

If you’re from the US, you’re probably familiar with the “Today” show’s Carpool Karaoke from YouTube. And if you’re an Olympic athlete, you’re probably even more familiar with the concept, since previous carpool karaoke participants included Michael Phelps, Simone Biles, Katie Ledecky and US women’s national soccer team. Even Michael Phelps did a Carpool Karaoke with his mom.

For this latest carpool karaoke video, USA Swimming got together 16 US Olympic athletes, including gold medalists Katie Ledecky, Simone Biles and Maya DiRado, to do a music video to Carly Rae Jepsen’s song “Call Me Maybe.” Even 22-time gold medal winner Michael Phelps had a starring role.

It’s not surprising that the song choice was about gold medals. Carly Rae Jepsen screams, “Yes, I’ve got a lot of medals.”
